Ivan Weiss Nils Thorsson Royal Copenhagen, Denmark Rutile Flambé Drip Glaze VASE
Mid-century modern, 1960s vintage, Royal Copenhagen, Denmark, 5¼" longest cross top diameter x 10" high porcelain or stoneware 22722 style art pottery vase done in a superlative striated rutile flambé drip glaze inside & out is marked with the IW cypher for Ivan Weiss. In addition to both Weiss' impressed cypher and the regular green RC factory stamp -- w/a still attached factory paper label -- there is also a impressed cypher for Nils Thorsson that I tried to photograph, shown in the 8th photo. As Weiss held Thorsson is high regard while he apprenticed under Thorsson's tutelage at Royal Copenhagen, it's probable that both men collaborated on this design form.
Other than some minor glaze bubbling roughness along the top rim, glaze thinning that encompasses an area a quarter inch down from the outer rim that surrounds the vase, and some graphite marks and surface scratches, this vase is in EX-NM condition.
