1920s Panama Art Pottery Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this Panama California art pottery vase. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This ring-handled pot has a mottled green glaze. It stands approximately 7 1/8 inches tall.
The maximum width is about 9 3/8 inches. Unpacked, this heavy vase weighs 5 pounds 13.6 ounces. There are brown felt pads beneath. This would be a good addition to a collection of California art pottery.
Identification This unsigned vase is circa 1920s Panama pottery from Sacramento, California. Panama produced artware and utilitarian ware as a northern California competitor to southern California potteries such as Bauer, Catalina, and Pacific. Condition This pot looks good overall, with light wear and no chips. There is a tight, Y-shaped, darkened hairline crack to the bottom, as shown.
There are a few fine, scattered scratches. There is very fine glaze crazing. Variations in glazing are as made.
