This evocative sculpture measures approximately 6 t. X 6.75 long and is marked Edris Eckhardt #1A and also FEDERAL ART PROJECT NO. Created in a small edition (of no more than 50 examples at the most).

Hand decorated, also by Eckhardt. Rare opportunity to own a vintage example of a WPA era artwork by a talented and listed artist. This figure was envisioned as a way to assist teachers and librarians teaching young children to read. Its subject comes from Alice Through the Looking-Glass, a story that leads Alice on a journey across a chess-like landscape to becoming crowned a queen at the end.

She is sitting upright and wide awake, while the White Queen and the Red Queen slumber next to her. I'm Mark Bassett, author and collector. As far as I know, there is no damage and no restoration. I frequently recommend the group Pottery Collector on Facebook. Great place for beginners and advanced collectors to mingle and learn more about all sorts of art pottery.
