Please look at pictures carefully, and ask all questions before purchasing. Rick Wisecarver began his pottery business around 1971 in Zanesville, OH. He started painting on canvas in his early teens but his mother, who worked at the Zanesville potteries, encouraged him to paint on pottery vases.Living in Roseville and Zanesville gave Rick an interest in art pottery made there. He began to experiment until he was able to duplicate the old glazes and methods. Rick named his pottery WIHOA ART POTTERY. The "WI" was for Wisecarver and the "HO" was for Hoadley which was Rick's mother's maiden name. The "A" was added for Rick's Aunt Florence Ault.
