Unusual Rare 1917 Rookwood Pottery 2412 Mystery Vase Glazed TWICE

  

Unusual & Rare Rookwood Vase Glazed TWICE, Dark Matte Blue over gloss Pink. I've seen hundreds of pieces of Rookwood but never one that was over-glazed in the manner this one is. Originally it was gloss pink as you can clearly see on the base.

Over that is a thick heavy matte dark blue. How did this even get out of the factory and into the hands of the public? Could it be an experiment by an employee? Or an attempt to salvage a piece with a defective original glaze? Can't be many of these around.
